SAN JOSE, CALIF – Every year, approximately 25 young men in the San Francisco Giants minor league system move to San Jose for the summer to play for the SJ Giants. From April 3rd through September 1st, these aspiring ballplayers continue to hone their baseball skills playing 140 regular season games.

Over the 21-year history of the San Jose Giants, the Host Family Program has been a vital part of the team's success both on and off the field. Having the players become a part of a local family helps these young men stay grounded in an unfamiliar new city. Many of the players are more than just a guest; they actually become part of the family.

“The San Jose Giants Host Family Program is outstanding,” said Brian Bocock, former San Jose Giants shortstop. “My host family treated me like I was their son. It says a lot about people who can let a stranger into their home with open arms and be willing to do whatever they can to help make the transition easier for us. My host family gave me an unbelievable amount of support and it is greatly appreciated.”

Experience memories that last a lifetime, become a San Jose Giants host family today. Host families also become an integral part of the fan base at San Jose Municipal Stadium. There are great activities for the families, including picnics, invitations to special events, and a family season pass to all San Jose Giants home games. At the last game of the season, host families are the Baseball Buddies for the day and get a chance to go on the field with the players during the National Anthem. One of the best parts of being a host family is watching your player advance through the organization and go on to play in San Francisco!

If you are interested in being a host family or for more information, contact Linda Pereira at (408) 297-1435 ext. 19, or fill out our form online at www.sjgiants.com.

The San Jose Giants open their defense of the California League title on Thursday, April 3rd at Bakersfield. The home opener at Municipal Stadium is scheduled for Thursday, April 10th against the Blaze. The Opening Night Extravaganza will include a post-game fireworks display, 2008 magnet schedule giveaway courtesy of AIG, KRTY broadcasting live, the return of Gigante and much more.
